ABUJA—FOLLOWING the move to end hunger by 2030, five state governors have endorsed a peer advisory mechanism to achieve the target .
This was made known in a communiqué issued after the maiden edition of the Nigeria Zero Hunger Forum, NZHF, held in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
The governors are Samuel Ortom, Benue; Kashim Shettima, Borno; David Umahi, Ebonyi; Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun, and Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto, whose states are part of the pilot stage.
According to the commu-niqué, the governors endorsed the mechanism to enable them monitor implementation of their state-grown agricultural plans with a view to ending hunger by 2030.
The NZHF has been supported by International Institute Tropical Agriculture, IITA; African Development Bank, AfDB; World Food Programme, WFP, and the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL.
IITA Goodwill Amba-ssador, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who also is the Chairman, NZHF, said: “More states will be invo-lved as we make progress.”
