BENIN—THE Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Benin branch, has threatened to withdraw her services to kidnap and robbery suspects in the state if the abductors of ace musician, Osayomore Joseph and the Executive Director of Ogba Zoo, in Benin, Mr. Andy Ehanire, do not release them immediately.
The NBA, in a communiqué by its Chairman, Ede Asenoguan, and Secretary, Osazuwa Omonuwa, condemned the spate of crimes in Edo State and disclosed plans to convene a security summit where all relevant stakeholders’ will converge to brainstorm and fashion out the way forward.
Reviewing the security situation in the state, NBA urged the state Police Command to “sharpen their strategies with a view to confronting security challenge being foisted on the state by clandestine activities of these hoodlums and their collaborators.
“Those responsible for the kidnap and continued abduction of Mr Ehanire and Ambassador Osayomore Joseph should release them immediately and unconditionally.
“The Bar shall be forced to resume the withdrawal of her services to kidnap and robbery suspects in the state if the situation does not improve.
“Concerted efforts of all other security agencies in the state should work in tandem with the Edo State Police Command to confront these twin evil of kidnapping and robbery currently ravaging the peace of the state.”
