THE 13th edition of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, which held last Saturday, would go down as one of the year’s most glamorous nights. A night when the stars came out in a blaze of glory to celebrate the finest among them and guess what! They did not disappoint hundreds of thousands of guests that thronged the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the memorable event, as they made the night one to remember for a long time.
From Stephanie Linus’ fiery arrival in a ruby red colour gown to Bimbo Akintola and Hilda Dokunbo epitomizing high-shine elegance, stars delivered major fashion and style walking the red carpet. The red carpet indeed was rich with a combination of black dresses, purple, silver and gold, with lots of shine.
Also standing out on the night were Nse Ikpe-Etim who hosted the event, Iyabo Ojo, Doris Simeon, Dayo Musa, Rosaline Meurer. Actress Somkele Idhalama dazzled in show stopping Fouad Sarkis couture pieces just as promising actress, Bevely Naya was on point in her strapless fuchsia number for the vibrant look. Bimbo Akintola who lost the Best Actress award to her Senegalese counterpart,Vero Tshanda (Félicité) chose a gold and black number that flowed into a flattering skirt fit for her frame.
Dayo Amusa chose a blue look among other actresses who stunned in exquisite outfits. The stars gave celebrity style die-hards a lot to talk about. Interestingly, walking the red carpet also, Ramsey Nouah whose graceful appearance put to rest his death rumour, which went viral on the Internet last week. The awards night, which Sengalese film, ‘Felicite’ coasted home to victory with six awards, winning in three of the five major categories, including Best Film, Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Supporting Actor was spiced up with performances by Afro Juju star, Sir Shina Peters, Ugandan pop star, Ykee Banda, Paul Play Dairo and the Maestro Band among others thrilled the nominees and guests.
