‎Anambra: NSCDC deploys 15, 000 personnel, sniffer dogs, surveillance vehicles

ABUJA – Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra state, Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has approved the deployment of 15, 000 personnel, sniffers dogs and Mobile Surveillance Vehicles to ensure a hitch free exercise.

The Commandant General disclosed this while addressing senior officers at the National headquarters in Abuja.

He also approved the deployment of sniffer dogs, specialised units such as the SWAT, CBRN, CTU, Undercover and Specialised Forces to protect the Critical Infrastructures and National Assets situated in the state and its environs from being vandalised by criminally minded individuals who may take advantage of activities like the election to carry out their nefarious activities.

The NSCDC boss directed the DCG in charge of Operations, Mr. Kelechi Madu to head the operation with a view to ensuring optimal performance and result. Equally, Assistant Commandants General from Zone C, Imo, Zone G-Benin and two from the headquarters and several Commandants from the neighbouring states and headquarters are to assist the DCG.

He said, “the Corps personnel for the Anambra election are well trained officers who are duty-bound to uphold the Corps mandate anytime any day”.

According to the CG, these personnel will be drawn from neighbouring Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Delta, Edo and Abia states Command respectively to complement the deployment from Anambra State Command and the special monitoring team from the National Headquarters.

Gana said the Corps is ready and willing to cooperate and synergise with other security agencies to ensure the safety of all Anambarians electoral officials and materials before, during and after the elections. According to him, synergy among security operatives is a must, as no man can achieve success alone, emphasizing that good team work at all times helps guarantee huge success.

The CG however seized the occasion to call on politicians within and outside the state to support the drive of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to fight corruption, by ensuring that they play by the rules. He said it should not be a ‘do or die affair’ because whether they win or lose, Anambra would still remain.
